What are your favorite memories of 2009?
- My favorite would have to be Henry's return. Shortly after the loss of Chez Duncan's first cat Jacob, who for all intents and purposes was treated as a surrogate child, Henry (Our orange and white tabby) ran off out of a faulty kennel on his way to get fixed. He was two blocks from home in a residential area which meant he could have run off anywhere. I was devestated, hysterical and completely at a loss for what to do with myself. I searched, printed fliers, posted ads on craigslist. We hoped he would have found a good home, my husband assured me he was probably more at risk of being taken in because he was cute than wandering alone. We settled after a few days that he was probably taken in and that we wished him well. A week and two kittens later (Our third cat Alice went crazy, she needed a friend, ended up with two, it's a long story) we heard a meowing outside. The next thing I know my husband pops his head in the door and then a little orange head pops his head in. I look at Henry and tell him after hugging him "I thought I was never going to see you again!" To which he simply looked up at me and said "Mao." which translates into "You're so melodramatic." He's been home ever since.
